On Wednesday, 6th March, students from Oasis Academy Mayfield, Oasis Academy Lord's Hill and Oasis Academy Sholing attended an event called WE Day at The SSE Arena, Wembley. The group of students from the three academies largely consisted of our newly trained anti-bullying ambassadors.
The event attracted global attention as The Duke and Duchess of Sussex (Prince Harry and Meghan Markle) led a line of A-list celebrities. Students loved the performances by Liam Payne, Jack and Jack, Pixie Lott and Tom Walker. Speaking to over 12,000 young people, Prince Harry said, ‘Change your thoughts and change the world. Dare to be the greatest generation of all time. I am with you, we are with you!’ His words at WE Day were broadcast and printed around the world. We were privileged to be there.
Other inspirational speakers included Nicole Scherzinger, Naomi Campbell and Julia Gillard, the former prime minister of Australia. Trip leader, Paul Woodman, said, 'Our students thoroughly enjoyed the day and have come back ready to put the uplifting words into positive action in our school communities'.
