The wait for GCSE results is over as students across the country returned to school one final time to collect their grades, spirits are high for final year students at Oasis Academy Mayfield, Southampton as they look forward to taking their next steps today after securing some great results.

A number of students have achieved superb individual results.

Connor Scott has secured an 8 and a 9 in Maths and English, as well as a 9 in English Literature and Physics, an 8 in Biology and Chemistry, a 7 in History, a 6 in German and a Distinction in BTEC Sport. He will be going on to Barton Peveril College to study A-levels in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Rebecca French has also secured an 8 and a 9 in Maths and English, as well as an 8 in English Literature, Geography, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, a 7 in GCSE PE and a Distinction in Performing Arts and will be going on to Barton Peveril College to study A-levels in Biology, Chemistry and Media Studies.

Speaking of their results Connor said; “I am absolutely amazed at how outstanding my results are – I cannot believe it! My teachers have been incredibly supportive and continued to motivate me through even the most challenging times”. Rebecca added that; “I’m proud of myself and what I have achieved – all the hard work paid off. I cannot thank my teachers enough for their ongoing support – including outside of school hours.”

Claire Taylor, Principal at Oasis Academy Mayfield, commented on students’ success saying; “We are thrilled for our young people who have worked so hard for these results.  At Oasis Academy Mayfield we are passionate about giving our students the opportunities that they need to make great progress and flourish, and this year more of our students than ever are leaving us with the qualifications they need to take the next step towards a fulfilling career.”
