Despite a year delay due to the pandemic our incredible Silver Duke of Edinburgh Year 11 teams finally managed to go out to complete their expeditions this July. Walking over 65kms the students excelled, smashing their expedition sections with positivity, team work and the odd bit of mud!
Our practise expedition took us to the New Forest to get lost in the trees and mud, meet a few ponies (and frogs!) and remember how to camp and read a map again. We had lovely weather and an excellent 2 days walking finished in Lyndhust.
For our assessed expedition we ventured to Dorset, and started in Swanage from where the teams walked for 3 big days over the Purbeck hills, taking in Corfe Castle, Old Harry’s Rocks, and a lot of sun before finishing on the beach in Studland bay.
This was the first ever Silver Duke of Edinburgh at Mayfield, and we celebrated by awarding Millicent her award on the beach!
Thank you everyone for your support, we can’t wait for our Gold Community Group, and launching Bronze with the younger years in Autumn!
