We were thrilled to welcome Matt Oldfield, bestselling author of the Ultimate Football Heroes series, to Mayfield on Tuesday 24th June for our final Drop Everything And Read assembly of the year!
Matt spent the day sharing his journey as a writer, his love of football, and how reading and storytelling can open doors both on and off the pitch. His energy, humour and real-life stories from the world of football kept our students hooked from the very first minute and helped our students to celebrate National writing day.
From our whole school assembly to our hands-on question and answer session, Matt encouraged our students to find their voice, develop their ideas, and see the power of reading in a whole new light.
A huge thank you to Matt for inspiring the next generation of readers and writers. We can’t wait to see the stories our students will create after such a motivating day!
