Dr Sadie Jones and the Physics and Astronomy team from the University of Southampton have been working with our students delivering their Aurora Zoo workshops.
The aim of the cutting edge programme encourages and enables students to understand the aurora and the role the sun and the earth's magnetism play's in producing the aurora. Students also studied its different shapes and the earth's position in relation to the sun and the galaxy.
The main event that took place on 5th and 10th February involved our students experiencing the mobile planetarium. In the astrodome, students were able to watch a series of 360 degree short films and an interactive show that showcases the night sky and visible planets at the time of the presentation.
The students really enjoyed the experience and the unique opportunity to have a Q&A with the scientists after the show.
