Monty's
Who we are:
Monty’s Community Hub is a creative space at the heart of our community, which belongs to everyone within the Montague Avenue area in the Sholing / Thornhill neighbourhood in Sholing. Our shop unit on Montague Avenue is a place where people in our community can meet up, share life, get active, make new friends, improve job prospects, or get help and advice. Our local volunteers – with support from Oasis Academy Mayfield and St Mary’s church in Sholing - run a range of weekly groups and activities for children, young people, families and people of all ages, as well as organising special events and activities in the holidays.
Our Story:
Monty’s Community Hub started life when Oasis Mayfield – along with volunteers from the local churches and community – came together to save an old youth centre from closure due to statutory cuts. Monty’s was soon reimagined as an inclusive ‘community hub’ – a space no longer just for young people, nut open to people of all ages and backgrounds. Monty’s is established as a community charity, and has since grown into a thriving hub at the heart of our community – where people can gather and grow together, share life, make friends, learn new skills, improve job prospects, or get help and advice.
What we do:
We’ve got a busy weekly programme with activities for people of all ages, and we’re always interested in hearing new ideas for groups, sessions or events to run. Have a look at our weekly timetable below, but keep an eye out on our facebook page and website for up to date details and information about new groups.
Get Involved:
We’re always looking for volunteers, or people with ideas and skills to share with our community. If you would like to get involved, we would love to chat to you: either pop in to Monty’s, or get in touch: 07493.306.046 | www.montys.org.uk | Facebook: Monty’s Community Hub
