Year 6 to 7 Transition

The Transition Booklet has all the information about the day-to-day of the school including information about the school rules, values and ethos, the timings of the school day, uniform dress code and a map of the school. It also provides parents with useful information regarding attendance and key contacts for the school.

The Pre-learning Booklet is an introduction to all of the lessons that you will be taking at secondary school in Year 7. There will be familiar lessons and ones that are completely new. We encourage you to take the time during the school holidays to complete the activities at your own pace. These activities have been designed to build on your current knowledge or to introduce you to new topics with some of the basics. Completing these activities will give you the head start in the new year.

The Be Awesome Booklet is all about supporting you as a person to make the best start at Mayfield. It will talk about all sorts of issues including how to deal with your worries about a new school, how to make new friends and what to do if you fall out with them and how you can live healthily at secondary school.

Be Awesome Booklet

The Who’s Who document is an introduction to the staff working within the SEND team. We encourage parents and students to look through this together to help familiarise students with key adults who may be involved in supporting students with SEND. You can also find an example visual timetable which can be made upon request to support understanding of timings of the school day, transition between lessons and also support students in finding their way around their new school.
